Australia India Business Queensland Pty Ltd was incorporated on 28 April 2026, establishing AIB's permanent Queensland presence as the operating vehicle for government engagement, defence precinct development and the bilateral skills pipeline.
Queensland is an especially compelling context for the Australia–India bilateral. The state's infrastructure pipeline — housing, defence, civil construction and the continuing legacy of the 2032 Olympic-related development — represents sustained demand that the domestic Queensland workforce cannot meet alone. AIBQ was formed specifically to deepen Queensland engagement, and in direct response to the requirement from Trade and Investment Queensland for a Queensland-registered entity.
Direct engagement with Trade & Investment Queensland and Study Queensland. AIBQ is positioned to support Queensland's India strategy — construction workforce, international students and bilateral investment. First formal TIQ / Study Queensland meeting confirmed June 2026.
AIBQ is the operating vehicle for a consortium-led defence precinct development in Queensland's western corridor — one of Australia's most strategically significant defence and infrastructure zones. End value exceeding $1 billion.
The DFAT-supported construction and robotics skills pilot has Queensland at its heart — TAFE Queensland, QUT and Queensland employer partners anchoring a program positioning Brisbane as the Australian arrival point for certified Indian trade technicians.
Jim Varghese AM's board-level connections across QUT, the University of Queensland and the University of the Sunshine Coast give AIBQ a rare ability to engage Queensland's universities at governance level — directly supporting Study Queensland's India objectives.
AIBQ engages with Queensland's housing supply challenge and community development programs, including initiatives at the intersection of India–Australia bilateral skills and Queensland's most pressing infrastructure priorities.
AIBQ is positioned as a trusted bilateral gateway for Indian investors, institutions and businesses seeking to enter the Queensland market — with direct access to TIQ, industry bodies and AIBQ's advisory network.
AIBQ's formal Brisbane launch will bring together Queensland government, industry, university and bilateral partners for a special announcement event. The date is symbolically aligned with PM Modi's reported visit to Australia.
Venue and full program details to be confirmed. Guest list limited — early registration recommended.
