Introduction
Australia India Business Pty Ltd (AIB) is proud to spearhead the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Park project, a transformative initiative entrusted to us by the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Committee (MGMC). This joint vision, led by MGMC Chair Jim Varghese AM and Architect Hemant Naik, represents a collaborative effort to bring Gandhi’s message of peace to life in Australia.
The park will be established in Spring Hill, Brisbane, Queensland, at the site of Gandhiji’s statue, creating a powerful symbol of his enduring legacy.
Purpose of the Peace Park
The Peace Park will embody Gandhi’s core principles of truth (Satya), non-violence (Ahimsa), love, and service to humanity. It will serve as a welcoming space where people from all backgrounds can gather to reflect, heal, and connect with these timeless values.
What the Peace Park Will Offer
- Meditation Facility: Tranquil space for reflection and mindfulness.
- Yoga Area: Open space encouraging physical & spiritual balance.
- Mental Health Space: Supportive environment for emotional resilience.
- Gardens of Peace: Calm landscaped paths for reflection.
Building Together
This project represents more than just developing a park — it’s about creating a movement centered on Gandhi’s teaching that we find ourselves through serving others. AIB will collaborate with community leaders, organizations, and government partners to make this vision a reality.
“We are creating a place where Gandhi’s philosophy comes alive — where truth, compassion, and unity bring people together. This park will nurture not just green space, but a living commitment to love, service, and reconciliation.”
– Mr Con Livissianis, Co-founder & CEO, AIB
Timeline
AIB is committed to delivering a fully funded proposal by September 2026. As the project progresses, the community will have opportunities to participate through events, volunteer programs, and cultural activities leading up to the grand opening celebration.
